• We’re working in you area – Anglian Water – 5 January to 15 March 2026

    Hello,

My name is Ashton, I am the Customer Experience Specialist at Anglian Water, I’m writing to let you know about upcoming water pipe replacement works in Wiggenhall St Mary, and to ask if you could help share the details with residents through any platforms you use.

We’ve recently completed similar work in Wiggenhall St Germans, including on Lynn Road, where a coded gate access system was used during the road closure. This worked well and allowed residents to continue getting in and out safely while the site was kept secure.

Some of the water pipes in Wiggenhall St Mary are now reaching the end of their life and have burst a number of times in recent years. To help reduce the risk of future issues, we’ll be replacing around 2.7 kilometres of pipe along Common Road and Church Road, starting from 5 January 2026. If everything goes smoothly, we expect to finish by mid-March. This is a further investment to the area of over £468,000.00.

To work safely, we’ll need some traffic management in place. Common Road will be closed to through traffic from 5 January to 15 March 2026. Temporary traffic lights will be in use at the Sluice Road and The Avenue junction from 9 February to 22 February 2026, and there will also be a short closure at the Common Road and Magdalen High Road junction from 11 March to 15 March 2026. Access for residents will be maintained throughout using electronic gates, with diversion routes in place for other traffic.

I have sent an email to the bus company for the bus route that is on Sluice Road / The Avenue.

We’d really appreciate your help in sharing this information locally. If you or residents have any questions, our customer team can be contacted on 03457 145 145 or by email at MLcustomers@anglianwater.co.uk.

    Thank you

    Ashton Carradine

  • New Play Park Opening 13th Dec

    PRESS RELEASE

Grand Opening of the new Play Park in Wiggenhall St Germans

In September we announced that the youngsters of Wiggenhall St Germans  were set to get a new and improved playpark at the Memorial Hall Playing Field in Wiggenhall St Germans thanks to a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, and fundraising over £13,000 by the Parish Council, local community donors and the Play Park Steering group volunteers.

After two years the project was completed today with a grand opening event to be held on the 13th Dec 2025 at the Memorial Hall, School Road.

Wiggenhall St Germans Parish Council Chairman, David Rust, thanked everyone for turning out and helping to celebrate the official opening of the project.  He hopes the exciting new equipment will provide a fun and adventurous way to exercise and play for the younger members of the Parish in years to come. He praised the hard work and dedication of the Project Play Park team and thanked the FCC, Memorial Hall Committee and community donors, including the estate of the late Jean Green,  Eau Brink Farm, Palm Paper, for their grants that made this £113, 097 project possible.

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community

projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Richard Smith, FCC Communities Foundation grant manager, says: “It’s wonderful to see something we have funded finally open and ready to make such a difference to the residents of Wiggenhall St Germans. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and this is a great example of what can be achieved.”

Gemma and Chloe, community fundraisers and members of the Steering Group said, we are thrilled to announce the opening of our village’s new play park! After a long journey, our hard work has finally paid off. We envision this park becoming the heart of our village, offering children a fresh and exciting place to play. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts; your contributions were invaluable. A special thank you goes to the FCC grant, without which this project would still be a distant dream. We’re excited to see the joy it brings to the children.

The journey doesn’t stop here said the Parish Council Clerk, Mike Inder, as the council will continue to improve the surrounding Memorial Hall field for play and events at the heart of the village.

  • Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH:LG)

I wanted to take this opportunity to make you aware of the Warm Homes:Local Grant scheme which is now open for applications to residents of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk.

Letters have been landing at various properties across the borough over the last few days, so I wanted to ensure that all parish councils are provided with the necessary reassurance around the legitimacy of this grant.

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk has been working as part of the Norfolk Warm Homes consortium since 2022 to facilitate the implementation of domestic energy efficiency grants across the borough. These grants typically accommodate the replacement of central heating with air source heating, insulation measures and solar PV where appropriate.

Previous grants have included LAD & HUG, however these have now both been replaced by the Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH:LG) which is now open for applications.

Any interested or concerned residents are advised to contact myself through either Jacob.Medlock@West-Norfolk.gov.uk or on 01553 616227 for details. Alternatively, households that wish to make an application should visit the following link – Norfolk Warm Homes

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries regarding this correspondence.

    Many thanks,

Jacob Medlock, Housing Standards Officer (Energy Efficiency)
